Dear Year 6 parents
Welcome to Spring Term. I hope you all have had an enjoyable and restful Christmas break and that children are ready to greet the new term with confidence, determination and resilience.
This will be an exciting term and a busy one as we prepare our class for the SATs examinations in May. Our main topics this term shall be 'The Romans' - for our history, geography and design and 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone,' for the majority of our writing and guided reading work.
Our daily timetable will have a different look in order to accommodate the following changes - Each day we will:
In addition to this, I will expect every child to read, at home, for 20 - 30 minutes per night. Reading records will be collected each Thursday as before and should reflect this increase in reading activity. It would be helpful if parents could sign their child's reading record daily to clarify that this task is being completed.
If you would like any other information about the curriculum, your child's learning or to discuss any worries or concerns please let me know and we can arrange a time to meet.
What I need to remember - Spring 2019
To bring my PE kit into school on Monday and take it home to be washed on Friday.
To get to school with sufficient time to do my morning jobs and be waiting on the circle at 08.45.
To practice my times tables and spellings every night.
To read at home for 30 minutes each day.
To get my reading record signed by parents/carers and hand in to Mrs Miles on Thursdays.
Things that will help me -
To complete my weekly homework.
To be organised with a pen and pencil in school every day.
Try to bring a bottle of water each day to school.
We are trying to perfect our multiplication and division knowledge. The following apps are fun and highly recommended, which can be downloaded from the App Store:
