This term we will be learning all about explorers. We will use this topic across the curriculum to help us gain a better understanding of the world around us.

English: This term we will continue working on our tricky words and using our phonics to help us write with greater accuracy. We will be using our over-arching theme of 'explorers' to inspire us when independently writing. We will continue to say our sentences out loud before we write them, and will begin to critique our own work. You can help us at home by practising our tricky words and continuing to read with us daily.

Maths: We are continuing to develop our number fluency this term by using concrete and visual representations to complete different number sentences and solve problems. We are challenging ourselves by problem solving, and we are explaining our reasoning. We are continuing to explore the properties of 3D shapes as well as comparing lengths, weights and volumes.

RE: This term we will be looking at people who are special to us. We will explore why they are special and follow Jesus' teaching in acceptance and understanding.

PSHE: This term we will continue to follow our golden rules. We want to show respect to each other and the people around us, and will be developing our abilities to accept changes.

Science: We will continue to link our topic into our science work this term, but we will also be looking at seasonal changes. We will explore animal behaviour and changes to plants during the different seasons. We will begin to look at the changes of the Earth and day and night.

Creative Curriculum: This term we will have our outdoor PE sessions on a Tuesday and an indoor session on a Wednesday. Please ensure there is adequate outdoor and indoor kit every week. This term we are also going to be introducing music theory and an exploration of instruments, as led by Miss Reed (a music specialist). We will also continue with our Spanish learning, incorporating the language into our every day lives. In other subjects across the creative curriculum we will be linking to our 'explorers' topic, creating art and dances to demonstrate this learning.
