Welcome to Ladybird’s Class!
This is Mrs Hamblin and Ms Rossall's Class.
Welcome Back Ladybird's! We hope you have had a great Christmas holiday.
This term we are going to be learning about extreme weathers. In our first week back, we will be creating and exploding volcanoes!!! Then, we will be discovering all about floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and tsunamis. I hope we don't get wet :(
We have now learnt all Phase 2 and 3 sounds in Phonics and we can now segment the sounds we know and blend them together. We will not be learning any new sounds now, until Year 1. We will practise segmenting and blending to read and write. Mrs Hamblin and Ms Rossall will work with us in small groups to help us to recognise all the sounds already taught and use them in our reading and writing.
In Number we have introduced subtraction. We now know + = and -. We can write our own number sentences and can explain what each symbol means. We will now explore our numbers further, ensuring we understand the process of addition and subtraction. We have many amazing resources that supports our number work and many of them are natural resources. Some of our favourite things to do are building and using shape language, counting out pine cones and matching the correct numeral, rolling dice and building towers or counting out gems. Come in and see what other Maths activities we enjoy!
Each week, we try to go on a welly walk. If you are free to come with us on a Wednesday from 1pm, please come in and let me know or send me an email. Please can I ask that every child comes in with a pair of wellies as the weather is now changing and that means mud and puddles
Parents: We love having our mum's and dad's in our classroom and can't wait to show off our learning. If you would like to visit the classroom this term or have any queries or questions, please email me @ email@example.com
Our RE topics this term are Universal Church- Celebrations
