In the Ark are children from Foundation Stage through to KS2.

Working with these children are Mrs Clarke, Mr Humphries, Mrs Fairclough, Miss Neal, Miss Paul, Miss Walters and Mrs Wilson.

We also have our speech and language therapist Mrs McKay Smith who joins us on Mondays and Tuesdays.

We hope you have all had a great Christmas holiday and that Father Christmas was kind to you. Hopefully you will all be ready to do more fun learning in Term 3.

This term our topic is "Fairy Tales".

In each curriculum area we will be working on objectives suited to our personal abilities.

English - We will be using a variety of Fairy Tales for example The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood, as a stimulus for our mark making, drawing or writing.  We will continue to work on our fine motor skills, pencil control and handwriting skills.  In phonics we are all looking at how we can use our knowledge of sounds to help us with our reading, by blending the sounds together. When we are good at blending sounds we will look at segmenting sounds for spelling.

Maths - We will all be doing Numeracy at our own level. We will continue to work on our counting skills, number operations and problems to 5, 10, 20 or 100. We will continue with reading and writing numbers. We will be developing our problem solving techniques including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also investigate measurement of mass, length and capacity.

RE - We are looking at the Local Church topic of Celebration, thinking about how and why we celebrate and thinking about celebrations that happen in church. We will also be exploring different bible stories. Then we will look at Special Meals and think about the special meals we have and learn more about the Last Supper.

Science - This term we will be investigating materials. We will explore man-made and natural materials. We will look at all the different materials and what they are used for. Then we will explore the properties of these materials.

Topic - This will be geography based and we will be looking at maps and aerial photos. We will then use our skills to try and create maps linked to Fairy tales. We will be working on our geographical vocabulary.

PE - This is with Football Paul and he will be focusing on our movement skills and how we work together with other pupils in a team.

Creative - All our art, DT and music will be focusing on our topic so we will sing about, paint, draw, collage and make things related to Fairy Tales.
